Revive and Inhale.
In light of the previous post, once again I would like to make a statement concerning my noble professors. That is to say, in the course of their work they seem to forget about the core element of the organisation they are working for - the students. Ever, have I heard that they , the uni, wants to be popular in the grooves of the academe as well as on the world wide arena and wishes to score high in the uni rankings. If it is really their solemn desire and wish to gain recognition among world universities, they should have pay a closer look and attention to their students because it it them who might have likely be the promotors of the university in the future. If the professors are as bright as they claim to be, then they should not overlook the fact that they cannot stop in the course of learning. Thus, they should , because they can, learn from the students as well, since it is to some extend physically unfeasible to be na biezaco with all the new phrases, wordies and so on.They should also apply some innovative strategies like being more student -friendly and -oriented, meaning, it is recommended, they be open for new, fresh suggestions and do not stay confined to the knowledge and concepts acquired some 30 years ago. Time which for the contemporary world seems nothing short of the stone age. Then, it doesn't come as a surprise that my department is undersubsidized. Perhaps the issue they try to pretend is non existent, is that of a they-do-not-understand-us sort -here 'they' referring to the outside, mainly business world. With all the knowledge they possess, they look like lost hermits [in the most negative and worst of senses] in the modern, fast-paced world. If they don't change, or bend, at least, their current way of practice, their achievements will remain self-appreciative, limited to the walls of the university and, I am sorry to say that but, useless too. It is not a yesterday's story that I hear, some departments have problems with applicability of their discoveries. it's funny how they, the state university scrutinizes the private ones for being too loose, not demanding and strict in their way of conduct. However, what concerns and distinguishes the latter from the former is really a great and bold innovative vision, practicality and student-importance-awareness. On top of everything, they should appreciate the resource they have at hand - their students- and not be affraid of being accussed of dumbing themselves down if they draw from them or admit they do not boast any knowledge in certain fieldies. Science for the sake of science has never done any good for anybody, neither has it scored any recognition amongs a group wider than a tight [as my ass] team of specialists.
